Who should use ClearUp?+
ClearUp is ideal for anyone dealing with acne, blackheads, or oily, breakout-prone skin. It works for teens and adults alike. Because it uses a lower concentration (2.5%) of micronized benzoyl peroxide, it's especially suited for sensitive skin who have found higher-strength products too harsh. If you're new to benzoyl peroxide or have experienced irritation with other acne treatments, ClearUp is your starting point.
How long before I see results?+
Many users notice a reduction in redness and inflammation within the first few days. For best results, consistent use is key. Most people see significant improvement in breakouts within 4–6 weeks of daily use. Remember: acne treatments take time because they're working at the cellular level. Stick with it, and give your skin time to clear.
Is ClearUp safe for sensitive skin?+
Yes! That's exactly why we formulated it the way we did. Research shows that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is just as effective at killing acne-causing bacteria as higher concentrations (5–10%), but with significantly less irritation, dryness, and peeling. Plus, our fragrance-free, non-comedogenic formula means fewer potential triggers for sensitive or reactive skin. As with any new skincare product, patch testing is always recommended.
Can I use ClearUp with retinol, vitamin C, or AHAs/BHAs?+
You can, but with care. Here's a quick guide:
Retinoids: Use on alternate nights. Layering the two can increase irritation and may reduce retinoid effectiveness due to oxidation.
Vitamin C: Use vitamin C in the morning and ClearUp at night. Benzoyl peroxide can oxidize pure Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).
Exfoliating Acids (AHAs/BHAs): Can be used before applying Benzoyl Peroxide on the same night, but start slowly. Alternating nights at first helps minimize irritation.
Non-Exfoliating Acids (Tranexamic, Azelaic, Kojic): Fully compatible and can be layered.
Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Botanical Extracts: Fully compatible and can be layered. These help with hydration and barrier support.
What makes micronized benzoyl peroxide different?+
Standard benzoyl peroxide particles are often too large to penetrate pores effectively. They sit on the surface and can cause even more irritation. Our BPO is micronized to less than 10 microns (your pores are 10–50 microns), allowing it to deliver the active ingredient directly where breakouts form. This means better results with less surface irritation.
Will ClearUp bleach my towels or pillowcases?+
Because ClearUp uses micronized benzoyl peroxide in a lightweight, fast-absorbing gel, it helps minimize surface residue and therefore the risk of bleaching. Bleaching is most likely when benzoyl peroxide is still wet or freshly applied.
Can I use ClearUp if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?+
While topical benzoyl peroxide is generally considered low-risk during pregnancy (it has minimal systemic absorption), we always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before using any new skincare products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
How should I store ClearUp?+
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use. There's no need to refrigerate. Properly stored, ClearUp maintains its effectiveness for its full shelf life.
Where is ClearUp made?+
ClearUp is proudly made in the USA in FDA-registered facilities following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). We maintain strict quality control standards to ensure every tube meets our standards for safety and efficacy.
Do I need to use sunscreen with ClearUp?+
Yes! Benzoyl peroxide doesn't increase sun sensitivity the way retinoids or exfoliating acids do. However, as acne clears and newer skin is revealed, daily sunscreen helps protect against post-acne dark spots and uneven tone. We recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning.
What if I experience irritation?+
Some mild dryness, peeling, or a temporary stinging sensation is normal when starting any benzoyl peroxide product. ClearUp is formulated to minimize irritation, but if you experience discomfort:
• Reduce frequency to every other day
• Apply a moisturizer before and/or after ClearUp
• Use a smaller amount
• If irritation persists or worsens, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist
ClearUp doesn't feel like it's working anymore. What should I do?+
This can happen with benzoyl peroxide but it doesn't mean the product stopped working or that your acne bacteria became resistant (that doesn't happen with BP). With continuous use, the skin barrier can become subtly irritated or dehydrated, which can make breakouts linger or look "unchanged."
Take a short break (3–5 days), with no new actives and give your barrier time to recover. Once skin feels calm again, restarting ClearUp often improves tolerance and visible results.
